About Dr. Juergen Weber

This man knows how to get a business off the ground. Jürgen Weber has spent his entire professional life in the airline industry, connecting Germany to the rest of the world. This past June he became chairman of the supervisory board of Lufthansa, after eleven years as chairman of the executive board. Born in Germany's Black Forest in 1941, Jürgen Weber studied aeronautical engineering, and later business administration at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). As Lufthansa chairman, Jürgen Weber initiated the realignment of Lufthansa Group, laying the groundwork for its privatization. His success in turning Lufthansa around earned him the 1999 "Manager of the Year" award from Manager Magazin, and 2002 Wirtschaftswoche named him "Germany`s Best Manager". Dr. Weber was also given the "Champion of Liberty Award" by the Anti-Defamation League and has received other prestigious awards in the US.
