Chinese machinery makers seek to buy more European companies

A wide range of Chinese machinery companies, in different machinery categories, is on an overseas buying spree. These companies are looking for technology and brands they can bring back to the Chinese market. As a matter of fact, Europe became the largest destination for direct investment by Chinese in 2011, and in 2012, Chinese machinery companies concluded 3 major deals, scooping up companies in Poland and Germany.

In this article, InterChina Consulting and its international partners of IMAP (a leading global M&A organization) present their analysis of the next wave of overseas M&A, which is based on InterChina's experience and talks with Chinese buyers in 9 selected machine categories.

Key takeaways
- European machinery companies are being put on the block because of the ongoing financial crisis.
- Chinese machinery companies have realized this and are scooping up opportunities this year and years to come.
- We expect many more deals to take place in the construction machinery and machine tool sector in the next three to five years.
- There will be several overseas deals in the categories of textile machinery, woodworking machinery, plastic injection machinery, and machinery components.
- Less activity is expected in steel production machinery, packaging machinery, and mining machinery.
