Impact of China on Central European Automotive Industry

China has emerged as a key market for European automakers – and the boom keeps on going. On the other hand, Central European manufacturers face growing pressure from Chinese carmakers (SAIC, Changan, Geely-Volvo etc.). The question is whether and how far automotive OEMs and suppliers from Central Europe can position themselves successfully within China. Finding the right strategy will prove decisive here.

The highly fragmented nature of the Chinese market presents the Europeans with additional challenges. On the other hand, with China's Five Year Plan setting ambitious targets for sustainability and energy efficiency, European know-how in hybrid and electric technologies creates numerous opportunities. These are some of the key findings of this study published to coincide with the upcoming "2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition".
