China top recipient of auto investments

China, Mexico, Brazil, India and the United States received the largest automotive investment announcements last year, according to a new study. The report, compiled by Tony Faria, business professor at the University of Windsor, said the amount of investment announcements grew to $24.1 billion last year compared to $17.1 billion in 2010. China accounted for 56.6 per cent of all-new investment announcements. India, China and Indonesia were the recipients of new investment pledges from the Detroit Three. Worldwide production of light and heavy vehicles in 2011 totalled about 75.9 million units, up 6.8 per cent from 2010, according to the report.
