Latin America: Brazil Leads Compensation Costs

New data from Mercer finds that the average total executive manager employment cost in Brazil is now $183,719: higher than the United States, France, the UK, and Japan.

The high costs are driven by a strong domestic marketplace, high commodity prices, and strong investment, which makes competition for managers quite fierce, particularly in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors.

The data includes salary, long-term incentives, benefits, and mandatory employer contributions.

Meanwhile, another Mercer survey found that Brazil's Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasilia have the highest cost of living in Latin America for multinational executives.

Venezuela has the highest salary increases due to having the highest inflation rate in the world, followed by Argentina, while Chile and Colombia had the lowest increases.
