Foreign Workers Find Favor in China

Economic development, as a colossal magnet, has attracted an increasing number of foreigners to come and work in China.

According to statistics released by departments concerned, nearly 100,000 foreigners are working on Chinese mainland. They mainly come from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United States and European countries, and live in the municipalities and provinces such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang to engage in technical and managerial work.

Charles M. Martin, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, says for foreigners doing business in China, especially the high-level talents, it is most important to "stay here for a long time," since only by this doing can they have real understanding of China's culture, market environment, and commercial rules. In August last year, the Chinese government issued "regulations on Examination and Approval of Permanent Residence of Aliens in China," the measures to normalize the regulation of examination and approval of permanent residence of aliens in China and to safeguard their rights in the country. Big cities including Beijing and Shanghai also issued many preferential policies that facilitate foreigners to stay and work in China.
